Making Plans

Inside Passage

Seattle and Puget Sound are the southern terminus of the inside passage to the Alaskan Panhandle, arguably the finest protected cruising area in the world. From south to north, it is 1,000 miles by the most direct route, with probably not more than 60 or 70 miles exposed to open ocean swells. In those 1,000 miles you have enough beautiful anchorages and delightful cruising to keep anyone busy the rest of their life.

Our general plan is the following:

May 16 Depart Seattle for Anacortes. Buddy boat with Dorothy and Dave Nagle (MV DavidEllis).
May 20-22 Anacortes Trawlerfest
May 23 – July 1 Cruise north to Ketchikan. This is a 700 mile cruise so we will have ample time to explore along the way.
July 1 – July 15 Cruise around the Ketchikan/Misty Fiords area
July 15 – Sept. 15 Rendezvous with the Nagles in Ketchikan, cruise Alaska and then work our way back to Seattle.
